HOORAY!

I am so happy for Colin Firth and Natalie Portman. I knew they would win. I knew it!

I am actually having this terrible flu and my head is throbbing like crazy. I guess, this was from our trip. :(

Anyway, I’m taking meds so I hope I could feel much lighter and better anytime soon. I’ll be posting our trip next time!

I love you all! God Bless!

Getaway

Tomorrow night, our class would go to Banawe and Baguio. Its a 4 day trip to do our research and community service. Banawe and Baguio are located at Northern part of the Philippines and we’re expecting the weather to be quite cold. I can’t say that I’m excited, perhaps because too many things are bugging me right now. I need to save everything that is still left on me. I need to save them. I can’t afford to do the same mistake all over again.

Well, our professor says that we are not going there to have a vacation. AWWW! Well the least thing I could hope is to enjoy the ethnic people I’ll meet and learn lots of things from their culture.

The Banawe Rice Terraces

I will surely miss blogging but I’ll be back. :)

Maybe I’m Just Confused

I’ve never cried this hard before. And now, my eyes were like stung by bees. They are really swollen. It’s my fault, I guess – or should have been more reasonable. It’s my fault. But things will be in place, again. I hope….

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,

even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter,

for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble,

it’s a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;

many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;

for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,

it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,

gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;

you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,

no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,

keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

The King’s Speech

First things first…. I already had a “secret” crush to Colin Firth. Well, you can’t call that a secret anymore, eh? Who would have not a crush on him? I mean he’s of course English, a gentleman, old but cute  unless you haven’t seen him in his critically acclaimed “The King’s Speech” where he played King George VI. If you still haven’t got the chance to watch this film, its Colin Firth at he’s best performance. HE IS JUST SIMPLY SUBLIME! I find Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter as equally of praise as well.

Besides, the movie was deeply inspiring. It gives a powerful message to overcome fear, physical disability and just do what you had to do for humanity’s own good. Its really thought provoking at the same time. I read a review that this film was such a triumph because not much historical film were that much distributed worldwide and I read that the Queen, herself, very much approved this film. So a double kudos for all those you made this such masterpiece! And also, the movie is not some boring historical encounter. It’s surprisingly entertaining!

What’s more beautiful about the film was of course- it’s music. Alexandre Desplat is the composer and I think the film is nominated at the Oscar for “Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score”. The music was equally superb! There still a staggering 11 nominations to count including Best Performance by an Actor, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress and many more! This is insane. I’ve never felt so in love with a since I last watch Cinema Paradiso and The Legend of 1900.

Watch the trailer… and the movie:

Constant Companion

Music has been my constant companion as far as I could remember. I am deeply in love with music since I was born maybe because I’m used to being lullaby to sleep by mom. I can’t imagine a world without music. As of this moment, I’ve been listening over and over again to Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. It is indeed joy listening this beautiful masterpiece. I just love how the chorus goes and every time I listen to this song, I feel like in ecstasy. Seriously.

From the movie Copying Beethoven, this masterpiece from Beethoven himself is joyous!

I also want to introduce a great alternative rock band- Melee. I believe that the word Melee is from the French word mêlée, which generally refers to disorganized close combat involving a group of fighters. A melee ensues when groups become locked together in combat with no regard to group tactics or fighting as an organized unit; each participant fights as an individual. (Source from Wikipedia)

I’ve been listening to them since high school and it’s a real shame that its only today I was able to introduce them. They’re pure awesomeness! Download their album Devils and Angels.

Built to Last is, I think, my favorite song from them.

Can’t Hold On always makes me cry. Also love this song!

They’re still have tons of good song from their album. They’re really a great band so you don’t wanna miss them.

Enjoy!

Morning Thoughts

There’s nothing so refreshing waking up early in the morning, feeling the morning chill all throughout your body, drinking some cup of coffee or anything your prefer to drink and waiting for that sunrise. I especially love it when the sun’s rays are slowly paving its way through your windows giving life to everything’s that around it. So, no matter how late I slept at times I push myself to wake up at these times in the morning where magical things happen.

I’ve been having criticism from people lately. Well maybe the word “criticism” is to overrated but I’ll use that term nonetheless. But I remember what Churchill Winston’s says about criticism: “Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to unhealthy state of being.” And I honestly believed that. I have nothing against criticism, in fact I think it’s a way to straighten things up. Well, it flatters me that some people do expect a lot of things from me but I am quite taken aback that they expect things more than I expected it myself. I really don’t know. I have no exact words to say this but yes, I am in a state of lets say, loneliness. Let’s hope this shall pass.

As I was just saying, waking up every morning lets me see the beauty in the world, at least. There is some form of serenity and tranquility in silence of it. A magical phenomena that happens inside me in every second of it. At least, I could still see hope every morning amidst all the chaos that surrounds my mind. Its heartbreaking but I guess I have no choice but to deal with it.

Pessimist

Our country’s situation in many terms and all aspects are somewhat in a brink of collapse. To say the least, our economy is not good. More than half of us are still lurking in poverty, unsanitary conditions which lead to different kinds of susceptible diseases. Our political system is a total mess, I don’t need to elaborate it more. The educational system is let’s say bullsh*t! Pardon for my bulgarity of words its just that I can’t seem to find a reasonable explanation on why on earth should the government allot more money on defense when the educations system is crap! There are over 100 children in a classroom! Imagine that, in one classrom! 3 children sharing on one, shattered, flooded book. I can’t imagine how could they study with such place not conducive for learning. This is insane. The government should pay their attention to education- a high standard of education.

But who am I to say this all? I’m just one of those citizens of my country who’s begging for reform and a little difference. I am nobody in the face of those greedy politicians. I am nobody compared to their wealth.

The thing is, no matter how hopeful I am, no matter how hopeful and brave we ought to be. Pursuit for that “change for the better” would be as bleak as a light from a tunnel. What do you think? As I see things, the world is just getting worse and worse and worse and worse and the worse goes on and on.

Is it just me? I don’t know.

I’m feeling a bit less hopeful about things around me.

Nostalgia

© Tonya Lynette via Flckr

I am infatuated or more say deeply and passionately in love with books. There something so strong yet genteel about the thought of them. I want to own a big, pile of books from every corners of the world from different genres. If I would be given a million dollars of money, first thing I would buy are books!

Books are like silent counselor. You could never really get tired of them. So no matter what, read books! Its good for the soul.

” Books are not luxuries. They are meat and drink for the mind.” –Andrew Taylor, The Anatomy of Ghosts

From Cancer to Gemini

I don’t know what happened but I just heard from the news that another zodiac sign was added from the former 12 and now 13 and its got a weird name– Ophiuchus. Weird, because compared to other zodiac names, its harder to pronounce  . Anyway, I am just quite surprised that although some people retained their zodiac signs, mine was changed from being a Cancer to Gemini. The thing is, I really am not an advent believe on these astrological stuff except when there are times when I read a newspaper and I saw this list of zodiac signs with their corresponding “what’s-gonna-happen” to me on that day and mine was a bit good, somehow I do believe. But most of the time, I don’t. To be quite honest, I see no particular reason to be interested on my sign, I always associated cancer with the CANCER disease  and changing to Gemini would be cool, I think. The thing is, all I know about Gemini is that they are twins and a sign of air, that’s all.

Gemini

The thing is, we must not let these astrological signs control our lives. We have a choice and it’s up to us to make those choice and face the consequences it entails whether it’s for the good or otherwise.

Have a good weekend!

On the Spur of the Moment

This song is very true from its every line.

Keep Breathing by Ingrid Michaelson

The storm is coming but i don’t mind.
People are dying, i close my blinds.

All that i know is i’m breathing now.

I want to change the world…instead i sleep.
I want to believe in more than you and me.

But all that i know is i’m breathing.
All i can do is keep breathing.
All we can do is keep breathing now.

All that i know is i’m breathing.
All i can do is keep breathing.
All we can do is keep breathing now.

All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing.
All we can do is keep breathing now.

Enjoy!
